Oasby all about the 10’s – 10 horses in the Top 10

So Day 1 at Oasby Horse Trials began a very successful few days.

It all began with Very good babies in their first events. All double clear and placed. Equestrian Direct Ltd Cavalier 3rd on a 29 dressage and Cassino 5th just adding a few time to his 35 dressage, Helen Collard’s Serefina 4th on a 31 dressage, Lady Maggie Cunliss’ Constance O Cool 6th on a slightly harshly marked 36 dressage.   Last but not least new ride; Robin Kemp and Fiona and Charlotte Bacon’s Solon had a very good run in the ON to finish on his dressage of 33.  Which set the precedent for the older ones…..

Day 2

Thistledown Poposki was a little too happy to be out but was very good xc. KBIS British Equestrian Insurance Starburst hasn’t forgotten anything from his break doing a lovely double clear to finish 2nd in the OI, It’s Chico showed huge improvement on last year with a 26 double clear for third in the OI.

New girl Mythical Lark {pictured with thanks to Baron Halpenny & BEDE) did a smart test and a confident double clear for another 2nd place in the Novice.

Day 3

Jo Boggon’s Bugbrooke did a steady double clear while her other horse; Van Dyke was double clear and 2 nd in the Novice on a 31.3 dressage in only his 2 nd ever event. My own and Pam and Jane Davies’ Calibro came out of his winter hunting with the Bicester very well to finish just behind on 31.8 for 3rd. Kingston Langley stud stallion Omar did a good test and clear round Sj but unfortunately whilst a little distracted hit fence 4 and scared himself so decided to retire him.

A great 3 days competing with 11/13 double clear and 10 top 6 finishes. A huge thanks you to the BEDE team for all there hard work and British Eventing Official volunteers for giving there time to make it possible.
