KBIS Briarlands Matilda 7th at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials

Home for Team Taylor from the 4th – 7th September 2014 is Burghley horse trials, it’s great as it’s not far away from home for me, although sadly timings didn’t work out for me to take Lilly and Freddie for their first day of school after the summer. Thankfully Matilda didn’t let me down and scored 48.3 to be provisionally 5th after her dressage.
Burghleys’ XC didn’t disappoint and a didn’t half tested both of us in every sense, but we both love a challenge & all the photos of us show the pure determination to finish as close to the time as possible we only added 11.2 to her score.
As with any 4* the Show jumping becomes nail biting for all concerned and never more so when you are in the top 10 and every pole counts and you have Mr Nicholson riding Avebury looking to make history by winning it for the 3rd year in a row, that alone was inspiring to be competing alongside such legends.
Frustratingly we tipped a couple of poles and dropped to 7th place. It was her last run of the season and she’s now goes for a well deserved holiday.
She’s just been brilliant this year to ride, I have a had a cracking season on her and I am so proud of her as she is currently in equal 12th place in top 20 horses in the BE points system for the season so far, I hope she keeps this placing as.
