Eventer turns Jockey

I have been asked to take part in The Magnolia Cup at Glorious Goodwood this year. This exciting challenge will see me to race against other equestrian women for charity. The race takes place on Ladies’ Day, Thursday 30 July.

The fifth running of the race will raise money for Amref – a charity which works to improve healthcare and quality of life in the poorest African regions. Following the success of past races, it is expected that this year the total amount of money raised since the inception of the Magnolia Cup will top £1million.

Unique to the Magnolia Cup, the silks worn by the jockeys have been designed by world-renowned fashion designers, adding glamour and colour to this exciting occasion.

Our brave 2015 jockeys are:

Alexis Green – BBC Presenter Journalist.
Camilla Henderson – Sports performance consultant and daughter of Champion jumps trainer.
Dido Harding – CEO of TalkTalk and Conservative Life Peer.
Clare Salmon – Former Group Brand Director, Royal London Group.
Emily Baxendale – Creative Director and founder of Goodwood’s preferred millinery Emily-London.
Izzy Taylor – International three-day event rider.

The Charity

Amref Health Africa’s mission is to creating lasting health changes across the continent. Focusing on the health of women and girls, they work closely with some of the region’s most vulnerable communities to ensure that high-quality health services are available to everyone, no matter where they live.

In 2014 UK-funded projects touched the lives of more than 300,000 women. This figure includes those supported by their unique surgical outreach programme, a project that gives women a new lease of life by repairing the tears of obstetric fistula, a debilitating and disabling complication from childbirth.
