Dr Patricia Turner’s Trevidden was an absolute star for the whole week at Burghley International. I’m so proud of what he achieved and how he behaved throughout the competition.
We had a Friday dressage and he tried and produced some great work to score 45.6 which left us in 12th place going forwards to the Cross Country.
The course was a typically big and tough Burghley test with the time looking to be pretty tight too. I was hopeful that this would work to our advantage but this was Trevidden’s first 4* and it was under 12 months ago that I’d taken over the reins as his rider. He was phenomenal. We did ave the occasional green moment but it was one of the best cross country rides I’ve ever had. we took one last minute long route at The Trout Hatcher but he cruised round, finishing inside the time and moving into 3rd going into the show jumping.
Sunday was a some what frustrating day after the massive thrill of Saturday. Trevidden was a little green and sadly we had three fences down which dropped us to 9th. However, I’m incredibly proud of what he achieved and so excited about his future as he still has so much more to learn and is a very exciting horse for 2018.
