4th in the Burghley Young Event horse class at Barbury Horse Trials

So as I headed to Barbury which is such a stunning venue for owners, riders, spectators alike it was a little different to the entries I’d submitted a fews weeks before looking at competing on 9!
How eventing can change in such a short space of time. Variety is the spice of life so best foot forward…
We headed to Barbury on the Thursday with new babies Serafina “Tina” and Otmoor Prince “Skip” to compete in their first event the BYEH 4YO Section N.
I haven’t really done many Burghley Young Event horse classes, they are different to normal classes in that you do a dressage test, then go immediately into a SJ round. then dismount and trot up for judges to assess. Once everyone has completed the first phase the top ten re-present themselves in the arena for further assessment of galloping and movement
So Skip was first up in the class and did brilliantly well in the dressage but I retired him in the SJ, he couldn’t cope with the 4×4 and trailer parking up by the commentary box and the double he needed to jump just in front of it. Having said that delighted that Serafina “Tina” {pictured} who came 4th in the class.
